"Owner-direct" means a family-owned company where the people quoting and doing the work answer to the owners, not to a leads board. Kevin Stepisnik started Best Owner Direct in 2013 after nearly two decades of watching other companies bill for work that had not meaningfully been done and push sales over explanation. The structure he built changes the math on your quote in specific, explainable ways: no sales quotas, options explained instead of pushed, and accountability that doesn't expire when the invoice is paid.
Every legitimate quote covers equipment, materials, labor, permits, insurance, and overhead — that's true for us too, and anyone who claims otherwise is hiding something. What we don't carry is the pressure to hit a number: our technicians have no sales quotas, so a repair that buys your furnace three more good years is a perfectly good outcome for everyone in the room.
Two people, depending on the work. For repairs, the technician who diagnosed the fault quotes it on the spot — the same person who will do the work, so nothing is lost between a salesperson and the crew. For replacements, our project manager designs the system around your home (load, airflow, ductwork, controls, electrical readiness) and presents options that differ in efficiency, comfort, warranty, and scope, with the reasoning for each. Either way, you are talking to someone who can explain the "why."
Fair question, honest answer: a big-box promotional install or a volume operation running a loss-leader special can sometimes beat any small shop's number on the equipment line. What we don't do is win the bid with a stripped scope and make it back on change orders, skipped permits, or reused ducts. If a competitor's bid is genuinely better for the same scope, take it — we'd rather lose a bid than pad one. Our guide to what drives system cost shows you how to compare scopes line by line.
It looks like a 1-year workmanship warranty on every installation, systems registered so you get the full manufacturer warranty, and a simple rule the family has run on since 2013: if something related to our work isn't right, we take responsibility and make it right. Family-owned, Oregon CCB# 199049, and a 4.9★ Google rating earned one job at a time across the Tualatin Valley and Portland metro.
Two ways: we quote right-sized equipment rather than the biggest ticket the house can hold, and we offer flexible financing with low monthly payments on approved credit so a failed furnace in January doesn't have to be a cash crisis. Maintenance customers on our plans also catch problems while they're still small — the lowest-cost repair is the one you never need.
No quotas, no pressure, and the people accountable for the quote are the people accountable for the work. That's the whole model. Get a quote and compare it — line by line — with anyone.
